Capri Rothgaber is a certified nurse-midwife and women’s health care nurse practitioner. Fascinated by fetal development and birth from a young age, she originally had planned to become an OB/GYN. However, after some investigation, she realized that the holistic philosophy of nursing fit much better with her own desire to provide mental, emotional, and spiritual care, in addition to the physical. Capri received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at The Pennsylvania State University, where she was a Schreyer Honors Scholar and selected as a member of the Women’s Leadership Initiative of The College of Health and Human Development. As an undergraduate, she designed and conducted a research study and wrote her honors thesis on the psychosocial effects of pregnancy loss on parents in subsequent pregnancy. Capri worked as a registered nurse at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. While there, she enrolled in The University of Pennsylvania’s joint Midwifery / Women’s Health Care program and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing. Capri, a Doylestown native, is a huge fan of Bucks County and is excited for the opportunity to return to the area. Additionally, as a recipient of scholarships from the Village Improvement Association, the Certified School Nurses’ Association of Bucks County, and Foundations Behavioral Health, she always had hoped to return and provide service to the community that helped make her dreams possible. In her free time, Capri enjoys reading, jogging, weightlifting, and dabbling in the fine arts, including creative writing. You can find a recent poem she wrote in the May/June 2010 issue of The Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health.
